Materials Needed
Newspaper or magazine page
Sharpies or other markers
Pencil or highlighter
If you do not have access to a marker, then you may use a crayon.
Instructions
Scan article or page for anchor words – words that jump out at you or words you know you would like to use in your poem.
Underline the words you would like to use with pencil or highlight them.
Find and underline any connecting words.
Black out all of the words not being used. You can create pictures if you wish.
Be sure that you have at least 4 words on the page.
