Watch a Student Sample
Note the "Story telling" nature of the video coupled with graphics and research.
Research
Gather required research about the pillar. Put the research on the Research Document I have shared with you. You can only view this. Select File, Make a copy. Rename the document with your group's names and Research . . . eg: Smith Jones Walsh Research. Move it to your Shared Class/ Final Project/ Research folder so all members and your instructor have access to it.
The owner of the document must ADD it to today's Classroom post-- DO NOT TURN IN so that editing can occur.
There are lines for research . . . you may add more by right clicking in the last line and add a row.. You must gather 10 pieces of research minimum. You must follow the directives of the "required research" link in the first bullet.
Enter or Copy and paste USEFUL INFORMATION and keep track of where it is from by listing source info or the URL so it will be easy to do a bibliography down the road.
The OT Teacher/ Student quotes should be recorded word for word on the doc. Students should be of "reputable" character. The quotes you retrieve from teachers/ students should be insightful regarding the problem, effect, or solution for your topic.
The above may not be possible so you may use any well known person.
Remember from our practice paper that Google searches are not your best option if the links given by the instructor do not give you enough information or do not fit your topic. Use more appropriate education type search engines such as:
Graphics
Gather your "Visuals" . . . the visuals MUST be of OTHS. Besides ideas of your own, the graphics need to work well with the content gathered by the research; it will be important to look at the type of information the researcher puts on the Research Document.
Make pictures "Landscape" rather than "Portrait" style -- the Movie will be a 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio and will be rectangular in shape.
CHANGE PHONE PICTURE FORMAT by going to Settings -> Camera -> Formats and change to MOST COMPATIBLE so that your phone will take pictures at JPEGS.
Take "staged" still pics of positive and negative behaviors in OTHS. Look at hallway murals and awards/trophies/plaques in cases to use as pics for your topic. The hallways and walls of OT have plenty of inspirational pictures, trophies, quotes, etc.
Additional OTHS pics from a Google search Spartan logo, Big Red logo, sports etc. may be useful. Put all pics in the Final Project/ Picture folder. DO NOT PUT THEM ON A DOCUMENT . . . upload each as an individual file.
Google Drawings or Adobe Spark/Canva can be used to create quick and professional-looking text and graphic combinations. Ask volunteers in the class to help you stage pics in locations in the building during class.
Get permission from friends and students before school, during lunch, and after school to stage a scene.
Only ask teachers that you want to use to promote a positive example of the pillar to pose on free time.
Images from the web that are appropriate to the topic must be edited to become relative to OTHS. Use Adobe Spark/Canva and or Google Drawings to make everything fit an OT theme. Share via Google Drive with partners by uploading each picture to the Shared Final Project/ Picture folder. Choose pictures with high resolution-- a small resolution (eg. 60 x 40) will be blurry in your movie editor.
If you come across pictures of text in a search, you may borrow the idea but you need to recreate the image yourself with Google Drawing and use backgrounds and colors that make it an OTHS picture if possible.
Movie Editor
Decide what software you will use to create the movie
We recommend using Clipchamp for your Final Project. You may choose to use another application is you wish. Some of you have great tools on your cell phones that you are familiar with- such as iMovie.
Create a Pictures folder inside your Final Project folder. All pictures and movie clips you put in your project must be from this folder. You should only put the pictures and clips (in the proper format) you are actually going to use in this folder.
Please be aware that iPhone media may need to be formatted from HEIC to JPEG. You can change this setting on your phone:
Go to Settings on your iPhone.
Tap Camera. You will be shown some options like Formats, Grid, Preserve Settings, and Camera Mode.
Tap Formats, and change the format from High Efficiency to Most Compatible.
Now all your photos will be automatically saved as JPG instead of HEIC.
If you've chosen to use Clipchamp, watch the tutorial below
