Students will reflect and introduce themselves to counselors/ instructors to build a connection with their school environment and consider future careers.
Part 1/ Naviance Journal
Introduce yourself to you IT instructors and next year's guidance counselor. Follow the directives below carefully to earn 10 pts.
Sign in to Naviance.
Select the drop down of your initials in the top right hand corner.
Select Journal in the drop down.
Select +add new entry.
For Type, select My experiences.
For Subject, put About Me.
Share with counselors. Do not share with teachers. Sharing with parents is your choice.
In the notes section, write a minimum 150 words about anything you would like us to know that might help us understand you. The journal entry should have a theme so the writing will "flow.' For instance, it can be things you do or don't like about school; past experiences that have influenced you positively or negatively; your aspirations for the coming years, family life; hobbies and outside interests; social life. You can be as general or "deep" as you choose. What you tell us will be kept confidential. Copy this from your doc attached to the assignment.
Follow Formal rules, however, you may use 1st person. Keep in mind that spelling and grammar counts as part of the grade. This can be conversational.
No attached files are necessary.
When complete, select Add.
Part 2/ Achieve Works Personality (10 Pts)
Sign in to Naviance.
Select the Self-Discovery tab and then the AchieveWorks Personality assessment. You may be shocked how well it identifies you! It will also suggest careers that fit your "profile."
After completing the survey. browse the careers by clicking on See Recommended Careers on the bottom of the page. A chart will then appear. Browse the links on the left side of the chart by clicking on the career and checking out the information in each tab of the career. When you find careers that interest you use the Favorite heart icon to add these to your list. These will now be stored under the career tab, favorite careers and clusters for quick reference later.
Part 3/ Career Interest Profiler (10 Pts)
Select the Self-Discovery tab and then select Career Interest Profiler.
Browse the careers in your career interest profiler by clicking on the View Results and then View Matching Careers List. Save careers of interest in your career favorites using the Favorite heart icon to add these to your list.
Submission
Select and copy the Journal entry in Naviance.
Go to your IT folder in Google Drive and create a document.
Name the doc. "Your Name Naviance Journal" (eg. John Smith Naviance Journal).
Paste the journal onto this doc.
Paste a screenshot for each completed Part (Part 1, 2, and 3) below the journal on the Google Doc.
Open Google Classroom and find the Naviance Journal/ assignment. Add your document from Google Drive to it.
Turn in the Google Classroom assignment post.
