Sample Procedure to start a new SCAN on an experiment.
Note: All user operations are in Blue. System operations are in White.
1. Launch MC
2. Choose Experiment from drop down list on pop up window
3. The MC queries the database for information on all the devices, GUIs and Plotters for the experiment
4. MC queries devices on their network port and displays a list of all devices that are off and all device that may have errors
5. If no devices for the experiment are ON, the MC displays a splash message across the Scan Tab instructing the user to go to Global Start or Device tab to launch devices.
6. If all devices are ON, the Device Selector Tab shows all Devices highlighted and enabled. The lists for device with errors and devices not ON is not displayed.
7. If devices are not ON, go to the "Global Start" tab and hit the "Start Devices" button.
8. System will start sending out commands to launch devices. MC will wait for responses.
9. MC displays a message indicating the status of devices.
10. If some devices are off or running with errors they will be displayed on the right side column of the Scan Tab.
NOTE: If messages indicates all devices are successfully launched skip to STEP 15
11. Click on a OFF device from the list for OFF devices.
12. MC will automatically load Device Tab and automatically populate the Device Selector control with the Device that was clicked on in Step 11
13. Use buttons on the Device Tab to manage the device or device computer ( ON/OFF, Restart, RDP to Device COMP are some examples of actions that can be performed on Device Tab)
14. Repeat steps 11 and 13 for all OFF devices and devices with errors.
15. Return to Scan Tab after all devices are successfully running.
16. Choose the Device from the Device Selector Control that you want to use for a Scan
17. The MC will automatically populate the Active Variable Control with all the variables for the selected device.
18. Choose the variable that you want to SCAN.
NOTE: The Variable has to be a subscribed variable and also a numeric. If these two conditions are not satisfied a message will be displayed and SCAN will not start.
19. Choose the Scan Tab in the Scan Selector drop down control.
20. MC will display the input controls for Scan Settings
21. Enter the Min, Max, Step Size and #Shots in the Scan Settings.
22. Hit the "Start Scan" Button
23. MC will start SCAN and display shots on the graph.
