HamamatsuSpectrometer

Introduction:

Install and run HamamatsuSpectrometer device on new computer.

Important Notes:

Installation Notes:

1. LabVIEW inteface with Hamamastu Spectrmeter requires Win32 XP OS.

2. Use the 32Bit XP installion file located in H:\Software\Installs\Hamamatsu Spectrometer Install\Win XP 32-bit Installer. The correct version is:

AppVersion: 1,0,0,73 Build 20070110_1(WinXPsp1)

DLL Version: 1.3.0.1 [specu1a.dll]

Driver Version: 1.2.0.0 [specu1a.sys]

DO NOT USE THE CD installation

3. The Spectrometer should be unplugged while installing the driver. Restart comp after installation finishes.

4. Plug the spectrometer in a usb port after restarting the computer.

5. The "New Hardware Found" wizard will pop up. If a driver is not automatically selected, choose the specu1a.inf from the system32 folder

(Note* Spectrometer will not communicate with LabVIEW with any other newer Hamamatsu driver)

6. Restart computer (Not mandatory)

Reference Trace instructions:

GUI_HamamatsuSpectrometer is the general GUi for all spectrometers. It will display a reference trace also. To Set up a reference trace please follow these instructions: 1. navigate to the control-all-loasis/user data folder. 2. Create a folder with the name of the spectrometer and save the reference trace in this folder. I have already done this for XPW_Spectrometer at "W:\Software\control-all-loasis\user data" as an example. If the folder with the name of teh spectrometer already exists, do not create another one. 3. Open the configurations.ini file, and add the path to the reference trace against the name of the spectrometer. example: XPW_Spectrometer= "W:\\Software\\control-all-loasis\\user data\\XPW_Spectrometer\\XPW_Spectrometer_001.txt" Look in the configurations.ini file located at "W:\Software\control-all-loasis\user data" to find the path for the XPW_Spectrometer as an example.

Procedure:

Steps to run device:

Follow steps 1 and 2 if the device type is not already in your database

1. Follow steps of Add/Edit new device type

2. Enter Name “HamamatsuSpectrometer” and Relative Path “HamamatsuSpectrometer\HamamatsuSpectrometer.lvclass” and click on create/Modify Devicetype.

4. Modify Devicetype Variable for RegenSpectrometer device

5. Launch local GUI from master control

6. RegenSpectrometer_GUI will open.

7. User can also set Devicetype variable values from RegenSpectrometer_GUI.
