Introduction:
Install and run NI-TC-01 device on new computer.
Important Notes:
Installation Notes:
1. Place the TC at its designated position and connect it to NI-TC. Also connect the NI-TC-01 to designated PC via USB.
2. Open NI Max, find device and use test panel to make sure it works, rename it to name of your choice.
3. Make sure your designated PC has win7, NI DAQ 16.1 (Link) and Labview 2013 installed. If using a different configuration, in particular older versions, the device will likely not work. In any case check the compatibility of Labview, NI DAQ and windows version (Link1, Link2). Note that GEECS manual currently suggest to use NI DAQ 15.1.1, which will not work.

Steps to run device:
Follow steps 1 and 2 if the device type is not already in your database
1. Follow steps of Add/Edit new device type
2. Enter Name “NI-TC-01” and Relative Path “NI-TC-01\NI-TC-01.lvclass” and click on create/Modify Devicetype.
3.Then Add New NI-TC Device by following steps of Create New Device and Launch New Device
a. Devicetype - NI-TC-01
b. IP is the IP of your designated PC.
c. Class Thermocouple
d. Enabled Yes
4. Device Ops -> Device variable Ops -> Device Variable (Add/ Edit)
Set the following DEFAULTS.
a. aiChannel -> 0
b. CJC Channel -> 0
c. CJC Source -> Built-in
d. CJC Value -> 0
e. IMAQDeviceName -> Same as set in NI MAX in step 2
f. Max. Temp -> reasonable value (e.g 100 degC) in DEFAULT VALUE and upper/lower limit
g. MIn. Temp -> reasonable value (e.g 0 degC) in DEFAULT VALUE and upper/lower limit
h. Thermocouple type -> choose the right one. For the ones we've recently used it's K.
i. Make sure you understand the unit scale you select in 'units'
