The Quilt
Marriage,
a young woman's
embroidered fantasy.
Each hand-sewn block, a romantic
daydream.
Newly
embroidered squares
of memories passed down.
Heirloom quilt of love, blankets her
newborn.
Watched
gargoyles
living in rock
outside the cathedral
their stone cold eyes follow those who
walk by
New Vision
She sees
the leaves on trees
with her new prescription -
hopes to clear a path, to escape
life's fog.

And once
we were children
who could sail forever,
and time would never catch us... then,
this day.
Still
Dream of
perfect endings
though all poems may not rhyme
and life is not fair, even at
the end.
Letting Go
Good-bye.
So bittersweet,
that last look in your eyes,
knowing all the might-have-beens are
now gone.
Separation Angst
Somewhere
behind the clouds
a warm sun waits to shine.
I bridge distance and time with tears
my love.
On the Mountain
Winds blow
tall swaying pines
like masts at sea, listing
them starboard to port and port to
starboard.
Imagination's Gait: Central Park NYC
Step up
into the cab
of the hansom, lean back
pull the old horse blanket over
your knees
Listen
to the driver
cluck-cluck to a tired
nag trotting down memories of
pastures.
The Juggler
Who is
tossing tumbling
Earth, turning the seasons
upside down; rotating the planets
in space?
Who is
making flowers
bloom in America
when Australia's autumn leaves are
falling?
Peppermint
Sometimes
a cane is like
a hiker's walking stick
steadying climbers to higher
ascents.
Sometimes
a cane is held
thrust forward like a lance
warning drivers, shielding the
sightless.
My cane
is our friendship,
bright as Christmas candy
every year renewing itself
like you!
