Rondeletia, Jasmine

a spring junicho by Barbara A Taylor (Aus) and Moira Richards (ZA)

rondeletia, jasmine -

these drowning scents

obscure all sorrow

mountains keep silent watch

over their muddied fields

don´t ask, don´t tell...

when will brave soldiers

have their pride?

as breeze to the gale

love and peace erased

vuvuzela drones

underscore the aussies´

unfortunate loss

but a rind left

of that blue cheese moon

her incessant snuffles

just an allergy

to fungi

muttering my mantra,

aitch five en one

a pelican heavy

wing tip to wing tip

with dripping oil

millions of trillions of

carbon footprints on the sand

as the mercury rises

iced drinks on tap

free for all

Mandela dreaming

from the island, our dream
