James W. Hackett Special Feature

James W. Hackett is undoubtedly one of the greatest haiku poets we have had outside Japan, most especially in the English language. It can be said he is one of the greatest even with contemporary Japanincluded. (Very few have overcome the Japanese language barrier.) The word “great” is used here carefully and critically. James has been our Honorary President ever since the foundation of The World Haiku Club in 1998. As such he has contributed enormously to the establishment of excellence, authority and prestige of WHC which the Club enjoys.

Moreover, through his haiku and writing for World Haiku Review James has also given hundreds of haijin and other ordinary readers across the world the amazing joy and spiritual value of haiku and what it can do for the betterment of ourselves, of our community and of the world at large.

As a Christmas present for you and as a tribute to James we would like to give you a taste of this by featuring some of the works and words by and of him which were published in WHR in the past. (These haiku poems and articles will be integrated into our WHR Archives in due course.)
