TECHNOLOGY PURCHASES (board approved 07/10/2011)

All purchases for technology & technology devices, software, hardware, and online services will be coordinated through the district Technology Department. The Technology Director is responsible for securing, RFPs, bids, quotes and purchases through the state procurement process. Purchasing outside this process is against state law.

Input is accepted from the district technology committee and campus principals to reduce redundancy and inefficiencies, and to increase validity of purchases. Please send your request to the Technology Director for technology that is to be purchased or that requires a Request for Proposal (RFP) through the approved bidding process.

Please note that bids/quotes are usually only viable for up to 90 days, after which new bids/quotes are often required. Please give plenty of time for the Technology Director to gather implementation specifications, to request bids or quotes from approved vendors, and to approve selection before technology is purchased.

Technology Purchases will comply with HB 5 & SB 6 which allows purchases of technology hardware and software to support curriculum and educational services. These purchases can also be made through the state instructional materials funds, general funds, CTE funds, IDEA funds, and the District Technology Budget. These funds will be coordinated between the principals, textbook coordinator, and the technology director.

Any technology that is to be attached to the district network must comply with current Technology Department specification and be approved by the Technology Director. These specifications are set by the Technology Director to keep the integrity of the network intact, to insure the safety of the district digital resources, and to maximize the network bandwidth and resources.

All technology purchases (hardware and software) will comply with state, federal, and local installation standards in addition to: (1) the District Technology Goals, (2)Electronic Device Policy and (3) the District Acceptable Use Policies.

The district technology committee will hold scheduled meetings, at least once a year. All members of the district and community are invited to attend. These meetings will be posted in on the Web and through announcements.

Technology is purchased in the Arp Independent School District to assist student progress and to support district and state instructional objectives.
