Tech_Care & Roll Out Info

Teachers: These 4 Days of Lessons require the following:

  1. Review resources at Device Central

  2. Netbook Handbook and Laptop Policy Handbook (You may share in Google Drive OR show on the projector)

  3. Laptop Checkout Contract or BYOD Contract (to be printed out and sent home)

  4. Parent / Student Agreement (to be printed out and sent home)

  5. Quiz over Laptop Care (at bottom of this page)

  6. Returned Contracts

  7. Devices registered ( District-owned) to individual students. (Tech Dept will distribute and register devices upon request. Please make sure that you have a large group of folks who need devices registered or checked out to them. Send us your numbers via email and we will try and schedule a time for distribution.)

NOTE: You do NOT need to work on these lessons during consecutive days....you can be flexible as to when you present these 4 sets of lessons

Agenda:

Day 1: Preparing for RollOut

(1) Send home with the student, the Parent / Student Agreement & Laptop Checkout Contract for District Owned Device

(2) READ each document to the class.

(3) Review this PowerPoint --- With this Handout:

Day 2: A classroom set of devices should be available for students to use during this workshop. (Ask Tech Dept to supply you with these). Students cannot take them home, yet!

(1) Either pass out the Laptop Policy Handbook or allow students to upload Handbook into Google Drive. Show Rollout Movie (You will need to stop this movie several times to refer to the ThinkPad_Deployment Handbook ....so be watchful! You can show the ThinkPad Handbook on your projector screen and have students read the appropriate parts out loud.)

(2) Send Home Laptop Checkout Contract with Student. READ both in class before sending it home.

(3) You might ALSO take this time to do a CIPA Unit on Internet Safety: Internet Safety Tutorials

(4) Send Home FBI Recommendations for the Home

Day 3: Spend time in class going over the following services:

--Ninite (to be run once a week) AND Malwarebytes (to be run once a week)

--Google Mail & Google Drive

Day 4: Students who have returned their contracts will be able to check out their own laptops for these exercises. Those who did not can use a classroom device for these exercises.

The Tech Dept will bring the number of laptops to be checked out. We will make sure each student is successful in logging into their own computer and their Google Apps through their email accounts.

YOU MAY WISH TO:

(1) Have Students Download QuickStarts for MicroSoft Office Take a few minutes to go over them and show them how to upload them to Google Drive in a subfolder called Office_Help.

(2) Show students how to utilize the following services:

Google Email, Google Docs, etc. Google Training OR YouTube

Have students take this Quiz. In order to see this Quiz, they must first log in to Google Email. We will share the results with each teacher.
