AUP Summary of Important Points (Adopted by Board of Trustees: 07/10/11) DOWNLOAD DOCUMENT

FACULTY RESPONSIBILITY

    1. Students are required to gain instruction in Internet Safety (CIPA) and Global Citizenship in all their classes and for each grade level. It is the responsbility of the teacher to provide this instruction. You may find CIPA lesson plans for each grade level at:https://sites.google.com/a/arpisd.org/play1/curriculum-by-grade-level

    2. When you have completed a CIPA lesson, you will need to report it on the CIPA Reporting Form. This is required by the FCC (Federal Law) for maintaining our Erate funding.

    3. Teachers are not to log on for students except in rare cases: (Kindergarten and First grade, and first semester of Second grade)

    4. Teachers are responsible for monitoring all students while on computers. A teacher sitting at the desk while students are on computers does not constitute monitoring. Students are ONLY allowed to use the district network resources for TEKS-based purposes ONLY. They are NOT to play games or browse the Internet without a TEKS-based purpose.

    5. Substitute teachers should not be given the responsibility of monitoring students on technology. Therefore, do not leave assignments for subs that require technology tools UNLESS the Substitute Teacher has been through the AUP for Subs Training.

    6. Teachers are to report any suspicious student behaviors associated with technology use.

    7. Teachers are allowed to use YouTube videos for projection to the class. Students are NOT allowed to access YouTube videos.

    8. No one in the district is allowed to access Facebook on a school PC!

    9. Every faculty and student member has access to cloud storage, blogs, and Google Sites to create a blended classroom environment. Make sure you and your students follow the Posting Policies for these services.

    10. If you require a specific online service for your teaching and learning, make sure that you send an Online Service Form for that URL.Otherwise, you and/or your students may not be able to access the online service.

    12. No one may bring a privately owned device to school without a proper BYOT Contract. Please read BYOT POWER POINT (Guidelines) and BYOT QUICKSTART

    13. Laptops and iPads are available to teachers for use during the school year. To gain access to these, you must attend the appropriate workshop.

    15. No one is to bring a flash drive or disk to school unless pre-approved by the Tech Dept. This is crucial for keeping our network safe and virus free!

    16. All technology tools will be plugged into surge protectors instead of wall outlets. Do NOT plug other devices into a surge protector (heaters, fans, refrigerators, pencil sharpeners, etc.). These cause surges INSIDE the surge protector.

    17. If your devices require Technology Maintenance, you MUST fill out a Maintenance Request Form. Talking to a Tech person or emailing a Tech person DOES NOT constitute a request!!!!!

    18. We will make ONE exception to the Maintenance Request Form. That exception is for you to call us (903 859-2408) if you think you are having connection issues. We need to SEE the issue.....NOT hear about it hours later.

    19. Keep dust and liquids away from electronic devices! Keep your computer area CLEAN and free of dust. Use your Google appointment calendar to remind you to clean your devices and area around devices at least once a month. Watch this Video REMEMBER NOT to spray anything directly onto a screen, keyboard, or computer.

    20. Keep your computers on unless told to turn them off. Turn OFF projectors as soon as you finish your presentation. Do NOT leave them on if you leave the classroom. Bulbs are expensive and your campus principal must purchase them for you!
