Day 6

Avui hem tornat a l'Escola Secundária Barcelos per poder visitar la part exterior del recinte, on s'hi troben diferents pistes esportives (futbol, atletisme, bàsquet, voleibol...) utilitzades per fer educació física i altres activitats amb l'alumnat.

També hi ha un jardí botànic amb espècies de flora autòctones de tot el país. És un dels més grans i amb més varietat d'espècies que hi ha al món dins d'un recinte educatiu.

Finalment, hem recorregut la zona d'ús exclusiu del personal docent, on hi ha una gran sala de professors dividida per especialitats: matemàtiques, biologia, idiomes, física...

També hem tingut l'oportunitat de fer una trobada amb el Sr. Vitor, un dels dos subdirectors de l'Agrupamento de Escolas de Barcelos amb el que hem gaudit d'un extens i molt profitós intercanvi d'idees, experiències educatives i coneixements pedagògics, confrontant ambdós sistemes, el portuguès i el català. Ens ha explicat experiències docents fruit de la seva llarga experiència, la realitat educativa que es viu en el dia a dia de les escoles portugueses, la seva organització general (horari, finançament de l'escola, organització de les especialitats impartides, tipus de proves oficials de diagnòstic de l'alumnat....). 

Hem pogut conèixer de primera mà les dificultats que tenen aquí també pel tractament de la diversitat, cada cop més nombrosa, i dels reptes per oferir una atenció educativa realment inclusiva i de qualitat per aquest tipus d'alumnat.

Today we returned to Escola Secundária Barcelos to visit the outside of the building, where there are different sports fields (football, athletics, basketball, volleyball, etc.) used for physical education and other activities with the students.

There is also a botanical garden with native flora species from all over the country. It is one of the largest and with the greatest variety of species found in an educational facility in the world.

Finally, we visited the zone of exclusive use for the teaching staff, where there is a large teachers' room divided by specialties: Mathematics, Biology, Languages, Physics, etc.

We also had the opportunity to meet Mr. Vitor, one of the two Vice-Headmaster of the Agrupamento de Escolas de Barcelos, with whom we enjoyed an extensive and very rich exchange of ideas, educational experiences and pedagogical knowledge, comparing both systems, Portuguese and Catalan. He explained to us teaching experiences resulting from his long experience, the educational reality that is experienced in the day-to-day life of Portuguese schools, its general organization (schedule, school economy, organization of the specialties taught, types of official diagnostic tests for students...).

We were able to know firsthand the difficulties they also have here in dealing with diversity, which is increasing numerously, and the challenges in offering truly inclusive and quality educational care for this type of students.
