Day 2

Comencem el dia a l'Escola Secundária Barcelos, seu central del Agrupamiento de Escolas de Barcelos, on ens han rebut dos estudiants del centre que ens han fet una visita guiada per les instal·lacions. 

A l'inici de la visita ens han explicat com està organitzat l'edifici en diferents blocs i amb el nom escrit a terra per tal que ningú es perdi ja que l'institut és força gran. Abans de veure les diferents aules, hem vist algunes zones comunes com el menjador, compartit per tot l'alumnat de l'ESO i formació professional i la biblioteca, amb una gran quantitat de llibres i una part per treballar amb ordinadors i una pantalla digital. 

La part de les aules de formació professional estaven equipades segons l'especialitat i aules més petites per treballar i crear els seus projectes:

• Aula taller (materials i estris per treballar la fusta i electricitat).

• Aula de robòtica (materials i estris per programar i crear material amb impressores 3D).

• Laboratori de física i química

• Laboratori d'educació digital.

• Aules d'art

• Aula de dansa

• Aules ordinàries 

Els alumnes ens han ensenyat varis projectes de robòtica que ells mateixos havien elaborat:

• Un braç robòtic: es controlava tot des d'una tableta amb llenguatge "java" i el braç podia, entre d'altres coses, moure objectes d'un lloc a un altre.

• Una maqueta a escala d'una porta de garatge motoritzada, programada per obrir-se o tancar-se tot prement un botó, amb un sensor de moviment inclòs per aturar el seu funcionament en cas de detectar que un objecte obstaculitzés la porta.

• Un disseny de casa domotitzada.

• Impressores 3D: que utilitzen per imprimir figures prèviament dissenyades amb el programa Tinkercad.

• Cotxe robotitzat: un cotxe construït i programat utilitzant plaques de circuits Arduino.

Un altre bloc de l'edifici està destinat a l'especialitat d'esports i disposen d'un gimnàs ben equipat i un pavelló amb molt material esportiu.

Hi ha una petita cantina que l'alumnat pot comprar menjar i begudes mitjançant un sistema de càrrega de diners a les targetes d'alumnat de l'escola. 

Hem tingut també l'oportunitat de parlar amb la professora d'espanyol del centre i ens ha explicat la seva metodologia a l'hora d'ensenyar l'idioma a l'alumnat.

We started the day at Escola Secundária Barcelos, headquarters of the Agrupamiento de Escolas of Barcelos, where we were welcomed by two students from the school who gave us a guided tour throughout the facilities.

At the beginning of the visit, they explained us how the building is organized in different blocks and with the name typed on the floor so that no one gets lost. Before seeing the different classrooms, we saw some common areas such as the dining room, shared by all ESO and vocational training students, and the library, with a large number of books, and a working area with computers and a big digital screen.

The vocational training classrooms were equipped according to the specialty and there were also smaller classrooms to work and create their projects:

• Workshop classroom (materials and tools to work with wood and electricity).

• Robotics classroom (materials and tools to program and create material with 3D printers).

• Physics and chemistry laboratory

• Digital education laboratory

• Art classrooms

• Dance classroom

• Ordinary classrooms

The students showed us several robotics projects that they had developed:

• A robotic arm: everything was controlled from a tablet with the "java" language and the arm could, among many other things, move objects from one place to the other.

• A scale model of a garage motorized door: programmed to open or close by pressing a button and with a motion sensor included to stop its operation in case it detects that an object would obstruct the door.

• A design of a home automation system.

• 3D printers: which they use to print previously designed figures with the tinkercad program.

• Robotic car: a car built and programmed using arduino.

Another block of the building is intended for the sports speciality where they have a well-equipped gym and a pavilion with lots of sports equipment.

There is a small canteen where students can buy food and drinks using a system of loading money onto the school's student cards.

We also had the opportunity to speak with the Spanish teacher at the school and she explained us her methodology when teaching the language to the portuguese students.
