Day 1

Avui hem volat de Barcelona a Oporto (Portugal), un cop allà ens hem dirigit a Barcelos. Aquí tindrem l'oportunitat d'explorar i observar el dia a dia de diferents escoles i instituts. Això ens permetrà conèixer de primera mà el sistema educatiu d'aquest país.

Barcelos és una ciutat d'uns 116.000 habitants al nord de Portugal, reconeguda per la seva gran tradició d'artesania i indústria tèxtil, però també indissociable de la música, els romiatges i les fires durant tot l'any. Però el que més fama aporta a la ciutat és la llegenda del gall de colors de Barcelos, símbol de la ciutat i de tot Portugal.

Ja a la tarda ens ha rebut el Fernando Carvalho, coordinador del Club Europeu del Agrupamento de Escolas de Barcelos, que ens ha fet una petita explicació sobre l'agrupament creat al 2012. En aquesta agrupació hi formen part totes les escoles d'infantil, primària i instituts de secundària de la zona sota una única direcció i un consell general que vetllen per una educació de qualitat per a tots i totes.

Today we flew from Barcelona to Porto (Portugal), and then there we headed to Barcelos. Here we'll have the opportunity to explore and observe the day-to-day life of different schools and high schools. This will allow us to better connect with the educational system of the country.

Barcelos is a city of 116,000 inhabitants in the north of Portugal, renowned for its great tradition of crafts and textile industry, but also inseparable from music, pilgrimages and fairs throughout the world. But the one thing that brings the most fame to the city is the Barcelos' colorful rooster, symbol of the city and all of Portugal.

Late in the afternoon, Fernando Carvalho, coordinator of the European Club of the Agrupamento de Escolas of Barcelos, gave us a first explanation about this group created in 2012. In this group all the kindergarden, primary and secondary schools in the area are part of a single directorate and a general council that takes care for a quality education for everyone.
