This Project was a Profile of the Graphic Design Elective class. I think this video is successful in terms of getting an idea of what a GD class looks like. I think I could have done some editing a little better to make the audio splicing sound better.
This was a project where I had to think of a topic to make a how-to/tutorial video on. I think what is successful about this video is how it shows the audience what Garry's Mod is and incorporates clips from the actual game to give the audience a feel for Garry's Mod. I think I could have taken some more time to learn the dance however because it's not perfect.
This project was to make a short story only using six words. I decided to take advantage of the box of rubber ducks in the media lab to make a video where a girl has a fear of rubber ducks and ends up accepting her for slipping on a rubber duck. I think what is successful about this video is how I managed to be resourceful of what was in the classroom to make a fun video. I do think some of the shots could have used some extra takes however because the shots were a little shaky.
This project was our biggest yet! we had to get a business profile of a local/mom-and-pop business. Fortunately for me, my parents owned a real estate business, so I made my business profile on their business. I think this video is successful in almost every aspect. It gets the idea across of the business, the audio's good, and the interview framing is great too. I do think the B-roll could have been better though, unfortunately, they weren't working with any clients which is what I really wanted to get footage of. I do think the footage I got works anyway
In this project, we had to make a letter to our middle-school selves advising on the future for them. I think this video does a good job at being almost a parody of what we were supposed to do. This video is very comedic. I pretty much scold my middle school self. I think this video could have been more serious than the project should have been.
In this project, we had to interview a classmate on their thoughts during the closing of the first quarter. I think this video succeeds in B-roll with many creative shots and angles. My favorite is the "inside the backpack" shot at the beginning. I do think the subject I interviewed had a bit of a generic topic which made it a bit difficult to get B-roll ideas so it mostly consisted of computer and writing shots.
I think a lot of this class was a nice refresher from last year's Visual Communications. I also learned some new things in this class like WALLDO. My favorite parts of this course were when I got to incorperate things I enjoy in my personal life like movies and video games. I do think you can see a gradual increase in quality if you watch the videos in release order. I hope to be able to work in more video-related classes in the future.
