For this shot I wanted to try to imitate the second before a car crash so I found two toys that moved with a wind-up and changed my shutter speed so I would get a lot of blur and show the whole sequence of them colliding in just 1 photo
For this shot, I wanted to make sure that the reflection shows a story and I think it does. For me, it shows how broken America is. With everything happening in America right now the shattered glass with the flag in the reflection gives a story about it.
For the light writing while it was being explained to me I thought I should make a house. It turned out to be very difficult to try and line up everything backwards and then have a door but in the end it turned out really well.
This shot for me was almost a hidden wonder because when I took it, I took it as a filler shot not meant to be anything special but after editing I loved the colors and how the blue pops against the white gate.
This was originally a part of the triptych shoot but when I edited it I realized how the bear looks cinematic and with only the light on the far side and the bear in the shot, it makes the bear seem important. I also like the only colors being black white and brown as they all contrast each other very well.
I wanted to try and get a low-angle shot of someone shooting a basketball and while I was thinking of this I thought it would be cooler if the shot included the net as well so in almost a frozen action shot I got the moment before the ball went into the air. I also like how the net and the person shooting the ball have a different angle as it adds perspective
I wanted my 3 photos in the shot to do something good and while one piece of trash is only a little good it still helps. As I was walking around the high school I found a lot of trash and it was upsetting so I got 3 of me throwing it out. I love the coloring of the wrapper against all the 3 of the pictures as well
I did a lot with lighting throughout the course because I think that some of the best shots come from the contrast of bright colors vs dark colors. I like how centered the stack is as well.
All of these shots used lighting in some sort of way to help the eye go to where the focus of the shot is. Specifically in the first one the light allows for the eye to see what the expression on his face is. The second used selective color and lighting to help radiate the yellow on the duck and the third used light to make the shadow for the arm.
I liked this assignment a lot because it got to use two things I enjoy doing. Photography and digital art specifically on Illustrator. While this image is very simple the mixed media portion allows for someone to make their own story when looking at the image.
When I originally took this shot I liked it because of the color and the lighting but now I see the image as successful due to the symmetry in the image. Not only from the candles and ducks but also from the stairs in the back.
This was a shot that focused on the rule of thirds. You can see how the only duck in focus is along the rule of thirds line. The contrast in this photo between the bright yellow of the light, and the darkness of the room makes it so the ducks glow and thus makes it a very dramatic shot. The rule of thirds allows for all 4 of the ducks to be seen as if it was taken from the middle there would have been a cutoff on the left duck.
I think what makes this shot successful is how you can interpret the picture in whatever way you want. For me, it is two people about to give a hug but there are many different ways to interpret it.
Sometimes we would just be asked to take pictures following multiple prompts like framing and something you love which was used in the first shot and the second or rule of thirds and lighting for the third shot. Either way these were always fun to do because of how creative you could get.
This was one of my earliest shots and I always think it is important to look back on these shots to see success. I like how this was taken at a low angle to show the duck swimming and the bubbles that are there so everyone knows its water
Again this shot used a low angle to make the truck seem important or even menacing depending on how you view it. I also like how the front of the car points to the glass door at the bottom.
I think this image has a lot of layers to it which makes it unique. First of all the glasses give a reflection but also his eye gives a reflection of the camera and I think that makes the shot pretty cool.
This shot is successful because of the contrast in the colors. The sky is a bright blue and there is a lot of space in between that and the bright green of the bush. I also love the focus on this image as you can see the veins on the leaf
I think this image is interesting because of how muted the colors are. It is not a bright red but it is also not a dark red and the whole image has a very similar warm tone. Plus you can see the full detail of the bricks in the reflection.
This was quite literally the first ever photo I took minus the edits. We were required to make obvious edits to the photo but from the beginning, I have loved the photo minus the edits. The repetition and the color make it very interesting.
Throughout this course I learned a lot. Now anytime I see a sunrise of sunset I want to grab a camera and take a picture of it, edit it and produce it to share my work to other people. I loved editing just as much as taking pictures because of how much better a picture looks with editing which is not common. Originally I wanted to take this course because my dad takes photos professionally and I wanted to understand what he was talking about. Luckily now I do understand and I'm going to Utah soon specfically to take photos with my dad. It's pretty cool to me what photographers get to do and all the places they get to go and hopefully one day I can travel across the world and take pictures of some the worlds natural and non natural beauties.
