For this project, we learned about shutter priority. I chose this picture because I like how it gives off an eerie vibe and how you can see Natalie clearly, but still see right through her.
Even though this was one of our first photoshoots, this is still one of my favorite pictures. I like the focus is just on the utensils and it's all dark except the light in the background.
During this project, we used studio lights to take pictures. While taking pictures I learned more about shooting in raw and the settings to use in certain lighting. I like this picture because Natalie's hair is glowing from the light, but the light doesn't overpower the picture.
During the class, we learned how to take portraits. I like this picture because Natalie is the main focal point and the background is just black and not a distraction. I also like how the sun is hitting her face but it's not too bright.
I think this was my favorite photoshoot, which was E.M.A.C.E. I liked the different angles and shots we had to use to tell a story, and I really like how I edited my pictures to give a bold look.
I really liked this project, because I could be as creative as I wanted to be while making this. During the process, I learned more about how to use Photoshop and the tools.
For this project, we learned how to use Photoshop more. I like this picture because of what it represents, like how the frown is blue and the smile is yellow but the yellow is still around the blue making it seem like even through sad times happiness is always inside of us.
During the class, we learned how to use selective focus on our cameras. I like this picture because it shows the tree in focus and very detailed, but then as it goes further it gets blurrier. I also like how I edited the picture so the colors were vibrant but it didn't take away from the photo itself.
This was one of my favorite projects because I was able to be creative and I liked using a mirror and finding different ways to find reflections. I like this picture because you can't clearly see the edge of the mirror so it looks like a portal of some sort.
This is one of my favorite pictures because I like how it seems like the monkey is alive and hanging by itself. I also chose to edit it in black and white so it seemed mischievous.
This was a really fun photoshoot and I really like how they turned out. We learned how to use shutter speed and how it effects your pictures.
For this project, we got to carve pumpkins and take photos. I like this picture because it's really detailed and I like how vibrant the colors are of the pumpkin and the fall leaves in the background.
While working on selective focus I took this picture of a crocodile eraser in the grass. I chose this picture because I like how vibrant the green is and how the crocodile matches the background but still stands out because it's the only thing in focus. I definitely took my time getting this shot and making sure that the blades of grass were all out of focus except for the crocodile.
This was just for a weekly practice and what we think laughter means. I like this picture because Natalie's blue eyes pop out from the rest of the photo, and how it genuinely looks like she is laughing and happy.
This was one of the first pictures I took when learning about selective focus. I like this picture because Jacob is candid and isn't looking at the camera, and how the background is blurred out.
I chose this picture because I felt that there was more of a story to it. I like how the scenery changes as Natalie is going into the trailers and there are different angles of the setting she’s in, but it still all goes together. Overall I really like how my picture turned out and I would do this project again.
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and we had the opportunity to shoot candy. Personally, I think this picture feels like it would be in an ad for Whoppers because it's so crisp and clean and can see all the details in the chocolate and wrapper. while editing this picture I wanted it to feel light but vibrant.
This is one of my favorite pictures I've taken so far while practicing angles. We learned about how angles can change the perspective of something and make something seem bigger or smaller. For this picture, I had to lay on the ground and have Rylie drop all of the soldiers onto me while taking pictures. I like how not all of the soldiers are in focus and how vibrant the colors are.
This picture makes me smile every time I look at it. I enjoyed using my creativity to include things in my pictures like phones and using them in different ways. I took my time taking this shot by trying to figure out how to incorporate phones and I really like how this came out and how you're getting a different perspective.
During this process, we learned about layering in Photoshop and it was a very fun experience. I chose layers that I felt represented me. I love the ocean and marine life and put them on me to make it seem like the ocean was within me. I chose a blue and green gradient and glowing dots to tie the whole picture together. In the end, I really liked how my picture turned out.
During the course of Photography 1, I was consistently learning new things and using creativity and imagination to create new photos. There are so many ranges of photography and components that are needed to take different photos and I really enjoyed learning the process. I think a challenging part of this class was making sure my pictures were meaningful and creative and not just taking a picture for completion. I feel as if my photography skills have definitely improved and I'm better at editing, using angles, and more high-quality pictures. Overall I am very grateful I was given the opportunity to take this class and these are skills that will last me a lifetime and I enjoyed it a lot.
