In this video, I went to Let There Be Rock and had gotten interviews with the owner, John Daley, and an employee who teaches vocals, Melissa Menago. Admittedly, it was fairly last minute and a bit rushed, but it turned out very well and they both did very good on camera. This music school has been going on for years and has taught so many students, along with 40+ employees to teach said students. It's a wonderful community that's incredibly outstanding.
For this video, the students of Video + Broadcast took home a camera pack and made a video to teach them how to do something. Here, I'm teaching how to make a video completely by yourself, which is also what I did with the assignment. It was nerve-wracking before I got the hang of it but it ended up going smoothly and the video turned out very well.
For our midterm, we were assigned partners and had to come up together with a focus statement. Sam and I, for this video, went around SHHS looking for water fountains and reviewed them as I recorded. Later, we set up the interview and got his opinion on the individual water fountains.
For this video, we were also assigned partners and we talked about a daily routine at school that we did. For my video of Nolan, the focus is on what Nolan does throughout his school day. The process with the camera for this assignment was a bit bumpy but the end result was very good.
For this video, we Video + Broadcast students wrote a letter to our middle school self and had to record it with another student standing by to help. The goal was to make sure that we were talking to our younger selves while being general enough that others could understand or relate. Luckily, SHMS let us inside to get some interior shots and it went very well.
Before being told the assignment, we watched a video about WALLDO (wide, angled, low, linking, depth, opp.), which essentially stands for the different types of shots we can get while filming. We had to use these types of shots in our own video and get creative. Here we see Sophia going and using her instrument with WALLDO shots.
In this class, we learned about thinking outside of the box and getting creative to get what we need and excel. We've put our brains to work by pre-planning our shots in a list for certain assignments, coming up with new angles no matter how awkward it would be to get it, and more. We were put into the field by ourselves at times and we practiced audio overlays, interview questions, and different ways to edit on the computer. As challenging as it was, I believe the outcome of my work was worth it.
