More about
Banners are used across international camps. Hand painted onto Calico is a practical way to create the banners.
A 'Village' is a smaller camp part (usually around 100 people), a town is a collection of villages (at Camp 100, each of three camps had about 700 people) and some banners are made for 'central' use.
How it became one of our 100 Objects
Once a camp is over, the banner usually no longer has a purpose and many have been handed as momentos. We have been using banners and flags in workshops and they have helped explain what an International Camp is like. They also bring back memories - Caroline (photographed) remembers being at Scunthorpe Camp.
Where Can I find it?
Both these banners were donated by Bill Bremner, Deposited with Cudham Woodcraft Archives
