Well-loved hot water bottle cover made by Val, donated at Camp 100.
In our interview with Wendy from Sheffield she recalls weekend camps happening every weekend right into the winter in the Peak District, when it could get a bit chilly.
Val made her friend Denise a hot water bottle cover to take on weekend camps in cold weather:
'Val used to issue hot water bottles with splendid covers, mostly covers were sourced from charity shops with most of the spare clothing. It was a bigger deal as young Folk liked certain patterns and there was great excitement when they were got out at autumn and spring camps. She made mine especially so the young people would know it was mine! Val died in 2023 having dedicated 40 years to the Folk, 6 camps per year and normally a few extra week ends!'

During workshops at Camp 100 people brought valuable items to be displayed alongside items and displays we had brought, including t-shirts, embroidered blankets, camp equipment and other items like this cover. At the end of Camp 100 the owner agreed for the item to join the exhibition, and to be deposited at Cudham.
On Loan, to be deposited at Woodcraft Folk Archive Cudham.
