Badger's hand crafted leather pouch and leathercraft book 1940
John Colbert (Badger) was known for leathercrafting workshops among his many talents. This is a book he used in workshops, alongside a purse made by him, and a personalised message.
John was well known in Woodcraft, founded Harrow Woodcraft Folk, and together with Edith and Jack Colbert, his wife and son, were very influencial in the Movement.
Important records about the early days of the Woodcraft Folk in London are documented in the John Colbert Papers (housed at the Bishopsgate Institute), which document the family's involvement.
Badger's adaption of the Naming Ceremony was used in workshops at Camp 100
An item that attracted much attention at UCL Special Collections Workshops - later Gill Norris loaned another purse and the leartherwork book he used for the exhibition.
