Truancy information is reported to PEIMS in the summer. School districts must reports students who were truant and what type of action the school district took.
"Truant" student is a student who is required to attend school (age 6 to 18 years under TEC 25.086), but did not attend without excuse for 10 or more days or parts of days within a six month period of a school year.
Students are identified with a periodic eSchool task that checks for unexcused absences. Once the criteria is met, field "excessive absence date determined" is filled out by the software.
Search will give you a list of all students that have an excessive absence date determined.
This search will give you a list of students without a prevention indicator. Any student who was enrolled at least one day this year will be reported in the Summer Peims submission. If a student withdrew before the campus could take any prevention action, then no action should be entered.
