Attendance Procedures
High Schools
Students are required to be engaged daily with work on LMS (Seesaw, Google Classroom, etc.) following a daily calendar of assignments. Students who do not demonstrate engagement on a given day are marked absent; however, if assignments are turned in up to 11:59pm of the same day, teachers can amend attendance the following day.
1. Official attendance period teacher should mark students absent by 10:15 a.m. during synchronous instruction.
2. All other teachers should take daily period attendance during synchronous instruction.
3. If student participates in synchronous instruction after attendance is taken, you may remove the absence.
4. If student demonstrates engagement later that same day, mark the student present, (RAP) remote asynchronous present.
5. Once you are notified of a COVID absence, direct the student to asynchronous learning from Seesaw or Google Classroom. Texas Home Learning 3.0 can be used as support resources.
6. On asynchronous days, students will automically be counted absent by the system. On the following day, schools will analyze the attendance report and compare to student submission of work to verify attendance.
7. Evaluate if the student completed enough work at home to indicate a Remote Asynchronous Present (RAP).
8. If the student completed enough work at home, correct the student’s absence in eSchool to indicate Remote Asynchronous Present (RAP).
9. This action can be done by
a) The teacher of record
b) Attendance Clerk
c) Data Entry Clerk
d) Support Staff
10. The correction must be made on eSchool by 4:00 the following day.
