The Optional Flexible School Day Program (OFSDP) allows districts to provide flexible hours and days of attendance for students who are eligible for OFSDP. The goal of the program is to improve graduation rates for students who are in danger of dropping out of school, have dropped out, or are behind in core subject courses.
Assigning students to Flex
On the entry/withdrawal screen, assign the OFSDP – Flex calendar. Select ADA 7. The date will be the date the student begins Flex/SASI. If they were in regular ADA before, withdraw from the old ADA and re-enroll with Flex ADA at the beginning of a six weeks.
Students cannot be FLEX and any other ADA in the SAME SIX WEEKS. If a student starts out as ADA 1, for example, and admin wants to switch student to FLEX, you must wait for the beginning of the next six weeks.
If a NEW student enrolls in the middle of the six weeks and should be FLEX, you may enroll him with ADA 7 at any time because he didn’t have any other ADA in the six weeks.
OFSDP attendance information can be entered manually or calculated
Manual entry using daily logs:
If the teacher maintains a manual log with student names and times, enter the information under:
Regulatory > Calculations > View Calculated PEIMS Data > OFSDP Maintenance
Therefore, if student is counted present for all periods, the system will calculate a full day of minutes. If student is counted absent all day, no minutes will be calculated. If student attends PART of the day (determined by arrival time/dismissal time), the system will calculate how many minutes the student was present.
