• This week we continued our small moment writing. We've talked a lot about how good writers include the following in their writing:
  • tell the story bit by bit
  • include feelings/talking
  • introduce characters/setting
  • use transition words

We've read a lot of fun read alouds like Corduroy, Jabari Jumps, and Come on, Rain! as mentor texts to what we're learning.

• We've been working on what it means to retell a story. We discussed that retelling means you're telling the story again, being sure to include the important details. A good way to chunk retelling is by talking about what happened at the beginning, in the middle, and at the end. Want to practice at home? After your child is done reading a book, have them retell the story to you!
