We have started working on our own non fiction writing this week with a focus on the Miwok and Maidu American Indians. We worked on a cooperative paragraph about the Sacramento region. We will continue working on informational writing being sure to practice the incorporation of nonfiction text features such as subtitles, captions, illustrations, main idea, and details.
Math
We are continuing our work in the area of multiplication and division. Students took a formative assessment this week which is a good way for me to check in on their progress. The formative went home in your child's Friday Folder. The students are pretty strong in recognizing and solving multiplication word problems. I notice recognizing and solving division word problems are a little trickier. Feel free to use the formative as a way to review the material we're learning in class at home!
Odds and Ends

What have you learned this trimester?
What would you like to learn that you do not know yet?
Which piece of work are you most proud of?
Which subject is difficult for you? Why?
Which is your favorite subject? Why?
What makes you happiest at school?
Which occurrences frustrate you at school?
What would you like to accomplish by the end of the year?

How can I help you achieve your goals?
