Here's what we've been up to in D111 this week!

Click the buttons on the left for resources on how you can support your Explorer in their learning!

ELA/Science

  • This week we did the following Mystery Science lesson: Why do dogs wag their tails? We learned why some animals like to live in groups in order to survive.
  • We learned about the Great White Shark using a reading passage and video. Using the information we learned, we then wrote an informational paragraph. This writing activity closely simulates what SBAC will ask students to do and what their informational writing assessment was like.

Math

  • We continued our work with fractions this week. We discussed equivalent fractions and how to find them. When we come back from break, we will continue our fractions unit for one more week.
  • A formative assessment (mini check-in) is in your child's Friday Folder. This formative was all about equivalent fractions and labelling a number line. If you're interested in your child having some additional practice, please utilize the homework pages that went home at the beginning of the unit or have them practice Fractions on Freckle.
