Here's what we've been up to in D111 this week!

Click the buttons on the left for resources on how you can support your Explorer in their learning!

ELA/Science

    • In science this week, we started our weather and engineering unit. Students learned where clouds come from and how you can predict when a storm is coming by looking at clouds. We also became engineers and found ways to make a house stronger when it is windy. Ask your child what they learned about predicting a storm and what they did to strengthen their house!
    • This week students wrote a letter for next year's incoming 3rd grade student. They gave them tips on how to survive based on their experience in 3rd grade. It was great for them to reflect overall on how their 3rd grade year went! Tips for incoming 3rd graders ranged from "don't bring a toy from home or else it might end up in the June Box" to "make sure you focus on CAASPP and NWEA!"

Math

  • As students continue to work on their Orlando vacation, they are spending more and more money, which means they have less money available! Will they have enough to last them all week? Ask your child how much their group has spent so far!
  • This week in your child's Friday Folder is an optional 3rd grade math summer packet. The third grade team created these for families that are interested in having their child practice during summer. These packets do not need to come back to me -- they are for you to use as you see fit!
