Here's what we've been up to in D111 this week!

Click the buttons on the left for resources on how you can support your Explorer in their learning!

ELA/Science

  • This week we continued learning about Forces and Motion through a Mystery Science lesson. We used supplies to see what would create the least amount of friction and allow us to slide down cardboard even faster. We found out that sand paper creates the most friction while a plastic button went the fastest. Want to know more? Ask your child: What goes faster down a slide? Cardboard with no pennies or cardboard with 5 pennies?
  • This week we circled back to narrative writing. We discussed all the elements of narrative writing such as: adding dialogue, thoughts, feelings, and zoom in on a moment. Students then worked in groups to write a story using the silly story sentence starters. The class came up with some pretty unique and hilarious stories! Ask your child what their group wrote about!

Math

  • We used this week as a review week for math. We practiced a few SBAC sample math problems in partnerships, revisited fractions, and geometry.
