professional teaching experience

My first major teaching experience post grad is owed to my long term substitute teacher position at Champaign Central High School. I took over five art classes, three of them being Art Foundations. I also had the privilege of teaching a ceramics and sculpture studio course. I learned so many ins and outs of teaching art to older kids, as I had not had much experience with teenagers before getting to Central. There were countless moments where I was running down to the basement in between class periods to switch out the laundry in time for ceramics class, or the time I stayed until 9PM setting up for the annual art show. I truly lucked out with the group of kids that were handed to me, and Central High School gave me a lifetime of memories and knowledge that I will forever hold close to me.
