These cat plates were made with a mix of slab work and coils. The main bodies of the plates are from a rolled out slab. I used another plate and traced around it to get the shape. I pinched the edges of the slab so that the outer edge of it was raised. I smoothed out the center of the plate with a rib tool. For the cat, I rolled out another slab and traced a cat shape before carving it out with a needle tool. I slipped and scored parts of the plates and the back of the cats to attach them to each other. To make it look like the cat was under the blanket, I rolled out a thin coil and attached it as well. Once I fired it to bisque, I added different colors of underglaze before firing again. After the second fire, I added a pink clear coat to make it food safe.
