depth and composition collages

To make this, I started with a piece of newspaper as my base. I wanted to do a constellation composition with a clear focal point. I chose yellow and black to draw attention to my focal point while having various objects scattered around the newspaper that were facing the direction of the focal point.

This collage was meant to show how overlapping can create depth. I looked for a background with a neutral, non distracting background. Then I started making the green apple by cutting out jagged pieces from multiple green pieces of paper. I repeated the process for the red apple, but decided to add some ribbon to it for extra texture.

I chose a beige background, then cut horizontal strips and layered then on top of each other to show a horizontal composition. I added white squares for more visual interest.
