OB Patient Assignments

OB patients are assigned to residents starting in the R1 year if the patient’s due date is after you have started your OB rotation. Each OB patient will have a primary and secondary resident (so hopefully one resident will make it to the delivery) and a faculty assigned to review on-going prenatal care.

OB Patient Visits and Problem List

For the initial OB visit, patients will usually get a dating ultrasound and then see a resident. During this visit, initial prenatal labs are ordered, the patient is assigned to resident and faculty based upon availability and screening tests discussed and ordered. Be sure labs are ordered (use OB smartest to order labs, consults, routine tests if needed). Also update the problem list with the dot phrase .obproblemlist.
