Belleville Laboratory

  • Basics

    • Lab is typically open 7:30AM-4:30PM - with different hours at this time - lab is open 8AM-4:30PM

    • If you need labs for a patient during a visit, typically they are walked to the lab after the visit. If there are labs that are needed before the visit (UA, urine drug screen, routine labs) you can ask the MA to mark the patient as "Lab First" which will alert the front desk to send them to lab

    • If a patient plans to come in for labs only, ask them to make a Lab appointment, this greatly helps the staff!

  • Orders

    • We can order mostly any blood draw or urine test in clinic, if a less common test or if you have any questions please ask Mike and Lisa in the lab!

    • Labs that can be run in clinic: UA, CBC, wet prep, POC glucose, rapid influenza, rapid strep

    • Other labs are cabbed to central lab, usually the cab comes around noon, if you have PM lab that is STAT let the lab know and a cab will be called

      • Depending on timing of when the lab is sent turn around time is usually 12-48 hrs

    • For skin biopsies, PAP test, HPV, endometrial biopsy - use order sets for orders

    • You can order labs for the future and mark the "expected date" for the time you are planning for labs to be done

    • If you order 24 hour urine studies, stool studies, etc - always ask patient to go to the lab to obtain supplies - they can bring these back in to clinic without an appt needed
