This module is comprised of an overview of pyrophoric reagents, and links to sub-modules which are based on the use of specific reagents.
To be declared competent for working with pyrophoric reagents, you must:
Complete the general 'Working with pyrophoric reagents' section:
Read and declare as read the overview SWP:
Pass the 'Pyrophorics Overview' quiz at the bottom of this page (score of 85% or greater)
Complete the requirements as specified on the reagent-specific pages:
Read and declare as read reagent-specific SWP(s)
Read or view any other required training materials as specified
Pass the reagent-specific quiz (score of 85% or greater)
Attend reagent-specific hands-on training session(s)
NOTE: If you are working with a reagent that is not covered in the reagent-specific pages, you will need a SWP specific to the reagent. Contact your supervisor about writing a reagent-specific SWP for your research group and refer to the general SWP-8141 above for more information on creating reagent-specific SWPs. Any such SWPs should either be written by a trained user or written with the close consultation of a trained user, and must be signed and approved by a supervisor.
This activity requires hands-on training from an authorised trainer. Please see the TRAINING REQUIREMENTS page for access to a list of authorised trainers and information on being declared competent to perform this activity.
