The vision of the Women and Gender Resource Center is to foster a campus community of empowered, intersectional leaders who challenge micro and systemic inequities by valuing justice, inclusivity, and accessibility for all genders.
WGRC staff are available for private consultation on a variety of topics for students, faculty, and staff. We have a wealth of resources including agencies and offices for referrals. The WGRC also offers a variety of free supplies such as personal hygiene products: (tampons, etc), condoms and lube, first aid supplies, and school supplies for finals. Check out their resources page for more information?
The Distinguished Faculty Scholar Awards (3 awards of $1000 each, one in each category: pre-tenure, post-tenure, non-tenure track faculty member). The awards recognize faculty members who have made significant contributions to teaching, research and service, including service to women and advancing gender equity on campus.
The Distinguished Service to Women Award for Staff and the Distinguished Service to Women Award for a Student (these awards are $1000 each) are given in recognition of commitments and contributions in the advancement and support of gender equity, and service to women.
Scholarships
Beverly McPhail & Kevin Kulish WGRC Student Scholarship: This $1000 scholarship award will recognize one full-time, undergraduate student who demonstrates an interest in gender studies and a commitment to gender advocacy.
Staff Council/WGRC Employee Scholarships: In collaboration with Staff Council, the WGRC provides funding for five $1,000 scholarships for employees who plan to attend degree or job related academic credit classes during the fall, spring or summer semesters at the University of Houston. WGRC teams up with Dress for Success Houston and Career Gear Houston in order to provide you with interview-appropriate clothes. You can receive these benefits up to 30 days after graduation.
There are 10 lactation rooms all across the UH campus, you only need to fill out a form in order to gain access to these rooms for up to a year after birth. For more information about these services visit this link.

We believe students are the CORE of our work at the WGRC. Each year, a select group of students serve as our CORE ambassadors, assisting the WGRC in leading discussion groups, hosting trainings, developing and promoting programs, and assisting in the planning of our signature events
