Students and faculty can buy permits to park on campus. The rates vary depending on what type of permit an individual wishes to buy (lot, garage or remote). The rates also vary between student and faculty members, as well as commuters and residents who live on campus. Students typically choose a lot/garage pass that is closest to their classes and/or their residential area.

As a student at the University of Houston, all students qualify for the 50% off Q-cards. This can be used on all the Park and Ride buses as well as the MetroRail that runs around the campus and connects to downtown.
As a student at the University of Houston, all students who DO NOT have a parking permit on campus, are eligible to sign up for the COAST program. The COAST program gives full time students $27.50 on their subsidized Q-card. This card can be used on both the Park and Ride and the MetroRail.
Individuals who carpool with at least three other people, can get a discounted parking permit.

Students can use the shuttles to get around campus, and they can use them to get to UH Sugarland (if they are enrolled in classes there) or Remote Parking. Students just have to swipe their cougar card before entering the bus and they can use it to travel around campus.
