Mission statement:

To cultivate safe spaces on campus and within our Center’s programs, empowering LGBTQ students to develop their authentic identity, and become proud, successful, engaged members of the UH community. No matter a student’s need or situation regarding gender identity and sexual orientation, the LGBTQ RC will provide a vibrant and stable group, program, service, or community that connects the individual with resources that support the student’s success.

Visibility Project - A list of the University of Houston’s “out” staff, faculty, students, and alumni.
New Student Orientation Overnight Exemption - In an effort to make the New Student Orientation inclusive and welcoming for our newest transgender and gender diverse Cougars, the Orientation Team provides the opportunity for students to request housing based on their gender identity. Gender Diversity Living Learning Community - The Gender Diversity LLC welcomes students of all gender identities and expressions who are seeking a safe, inclusive, comfortable, and supportive living environment.
Houston Area Resouces - For support and information, regarding “Coming Out” and other issues related to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual/Pansexual, Transgender, Queer, and/or Questioning identities, for yourself or a friend.
Student Organizations - For a list of LGBTQ-related student organizations.
Pride Partners - University of Houston departments show their support of the LGBTQ Resource Center and of the LGBTQ community by becoming a pride partner.

Do you need someone to talk to who understands what it means to be an LGBTQIA+ student at UH? Our mentors are here to help you work through any of the following areas in your life:

Setting and achieving personal goals.

Exploring your multiple identities (e.g. gender, cultural, religious, sexual orientation, etc.).

Finding a comfortable place in the community (e.g. UH, Houston, LGBTQIA+, etc.).

Discovering your purpose in life (e.g. your career path).

Developing mature relationships (e.g. friends, dating, accessing faculty, etc.)

Creating a balanced life (e.g. work, rest, and playtime!)

Mentors help you to clarify what you value, and then assist you with taking the steps to accomplish your goals.

The mission: To increase the safety and comfort level for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (GLBTQ) students, staff, and faculty at the University of Houston by training allies to be able to respond knowledgeably and sensitively to expressed needs.

Our physical space is open, but the majority of our programs will be online. Please check our calendar to see the many programs and workshops we have planned.
