Peace from Fire and Brimstone
Peace from Fire and Brimstone, 2' x 2', Oil on Wood, $225
"I feel the suffering of millions. and yet, when I look up at the sky, I somehow feel that everything will change for the better, that this cruelty too shall end, that peace and tranquility will return once more."
~ Anne Frank
As history has shown us, sometimes it takes "Fire and Brimstone" to make changes happen, driving out dark forces so peace can arise. I painted this PEACE SIGN to show that Living in peace is mankind's True nature and joy.
"Sometimes, sadly it takes "Fire and Brimstone" to achieve and maintain a lasting peace. Once war and violence are vanquished, calm and harmony rise up, filling our hearts and lives with tranquility!"
Barbara lives and works inNew Haven's Fair Haven section, where her studio is located. She has a BA in Fine Arts from New York University, where she studied under Milton Resnick. Currently, she is an oil painting student of Vincent Baldissano at Gateway Community College.
Artist Statement
Combining everyday objects into a still life is the perfect jumping off point for my paintings.
Some are common: a wine bottle, a bunch of grapes. Others more esoteric.
Most times, I have no sentimental connection, nor do they have symbolism for me. But with the addition of light, or changing relative positions of the objects, for example, a still life can become more dream-like, or highly energized. Complex interactions between shapes & colors emerge.
