In 1982 Brian Gill Wendler renovated the Shubert's fire-curtain with scenic artist Roland Brooks, so, when he was asked by Art25 to show his 'intuitive works' from this period in the lobby gallery he welcomed the opportunity. New Haven in the 80s had a vibrant art scene which he joined after moving from New York where he earned a BFA from Cooper Union. Brian has painted and taught here ever since and received a Connecticut Commission for Culture and Tourism, Artist Fellowship Grant for Painting in 2007.
These paintings contain layers of intuitive gestures which merge to form shapes forms and colors which I see as evidence of an internal dialogue, souvenirs of a journey into the sub conscious.
