Artist Statement
Trash is everywhere. In the past 50 years, plastic use increased 20-fold across the globe. By 2050, more garbage than fish will be in the oceans. My work looks at our environment, examining the harsh truths behind the growing emergencies facing our country and the world, particularly the oceans. We are facing the challenges of climate change and plastic pollution. While investigating what’s hurting the planet, I make room for beauty as I use these earth-destroying materials--non-recyclable trash--to tell the story.
