I grew up in Greenwich Village in New York City, spending weekends and summers in upstate New York where I learned to love nature. Extended studies at the University of Delaware ending in 1998 also provided me with ample opportunity to love nature, and in particular the seashore. It is in Delaware that I discovered photography. I moved to the Connecticut shoreline 20 years ago when I took a full-time professor position in the Psychology Department at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, from which I retired in January 2020. I now have a lot more time to focus on my loves including photography. I shoot using a digital SLR camera, and what I see is what you get; I do not edit, filter, or crop my images. The largest manipulation I embark on is to move an object to different spaces, experimenting with background color and surface. My work explores the beauty (and sometimes tragedy) of nature and human experience, examining color, form, and movement, as well as physical traces of human activity. I have exhibited and sold my work locally at area festivals, art shows at my college, and the former City-Wide Open Studios and more current Open Sources annual showcases. My newly developed website will continue to grow, so check back regularly.
