Cape Fear Botanical Garden

Cape Fear Botanical Gardens is a private non-profit botanical gardens on 77 acres nestled between the Cape Fear River and Cross Creek just outside of downtown Fayetteville. The gardens was founded in 1989 by dedicated gardeners and plant enthusiasts in Fayetteville.


The gardens feature two sections - cultivated and non-cultivated. The cultivated gardens showcase more than 2,000 varieties of ornamental plants and individual gardens are dedicated to specific types of plants. For example, the Shade Garden features hostas and other shade-loving plants, and the Butterfly Stroll features plants that attract butterflies. The non-cultivated section features a flood plain forest with examples of trees and other plants indigenous to the Sandhills region.

Directions:

From I-95 north, take exit 52 to NC-24 west. In approximately 5 miles, turn right on US-301 north (Eastern Boulevard) and the gardens will be on the right. From I-95 south, take exit 56 and bear right onto I-95 Business. After crossing the bridge over the Cape Fear River, take the next right and an immediate right onto a service road that goes under the highway and to the gardens.
