Red Rock Canyon Open Space

Red Rock Canyon Open Space is a 1474-acre park owned by the city of Colorado Springs. As the name suggests, the park features a number of red rock hogbacks or narrow ridges, similar to Garden of the Gods but smaller. The park contains a number of reclaimed industrial sites, including a quarry and landfill. The city of Colorado Springs first acquired 789 acres in 2003 for the creation of an open space and the park has continued to grow to nearly double in size. The park features hiking and mountain biking trails throughout the canyon and rock climbing is allowed with a permit.
