Rocks State Park

Rocks State Park is located in northern Maryland in Harford County. Originally planned to be Deer Creek State Park, land purchases began in 1951 and were the first purchases for the purpose of creating a state park. The park protects scenic land in the Deer Creek Valley. The park area is 855 acres and includes three sections - the main Rock Ridge area, the Falling Branch Section and Hidden Valley Natural Area.

Points of Interest:

Kilgore Falls:

Kilgore Falls is an 18-foot waterfall on Falling Branch, the second highest vertical drop waterfall in Maryland. From the Falling Branch parking area, hike the short trail to the base of the waterfall. It's not a very big waterfall, but is very scenic. We visited in the winter and there was no one else here. I understand that it's a popular swim hole in the summer, so would be much more crowded during that time.
