Fall Creek Gorge Nature Preserve

Fall Creek Gorge is a 163-acre preserve that protects a unique rocky gorge in Warren County. Fall Creek is a tributary of Big Pine Creek and flows through a narrow gorge of sculpted rocks with numerous potholes in the sandrock that forms the canyon bed. The steep walled canyon seems very out of place in rural west central Indiana. A short trail leads along the gorge and to a small but scenic waterfall on Fall Creek. This unique habitat is home to a number of rare plant and animal species. The preserve is managed by the Nature Conservancy and is an Indiana Dedicated State Nature Preserve. The parking area here is small and street parking is prohibited so try to arrive early or visit on a weekday to avoid the crowds.

Directions:

From Williamsport, head east on IN-28 for about 1.5 miles and turn left on US-41 north. Drive 1.8 miles and turn right on the gravel Potholes Road. Go 1.6 miles and the preserve will be on the left before crossing Big Pine Creek. No street parking on Potholes Road.
