Does the idea of reading the Bible make you break into a cold sweat?
Do you hate it when people use a verse from the Bible to justify something you know is wrong?
Would you like to understand the context, purpose and audience of the different parts of the Bible?
At the very least, would you like to improve your skills in text analysis for your English classes?
In this unit, you will learn how to read and understand the Bible by first exploring the different genres and styles of writing, and then looking more closely at a specific book in order to understand who wrote it (author), why they wrote it (context), who they wrote it for (audience) and what they wanted the readers to feel/think/do (purpose).

Through this course, students will be able to apply the skills and an understanding of other religions and cultures as well as the values embedded in the scriptures to any work setting. Some specific examples are police officers, teachers, forward focused staff roles, tourism, public relations, theology, lecturer, missionary, non-profit administrator, political Consultant, religious rights advocate, social worker and employment at a religious- based organisation.
Through this course, students will be able to apply the skills and an understanding of other religions and cultures as well as the values embedded in the scriptures to any work setting.
