Awaken the Spirit enables students to explore the relationship between religion and science through the concept of Integral Ecology. Students analyse the work of key theologians, scientists and organisations, such as Fr Denis Edwards, Pope Francis and Catholic Land Care Australia to understand how religion and science have influenced how we understand and live in the world today. Science and religion are both important to understanding human life and are not at odds. Students will research how religion and science are united in the continuing search for truth in unlocking the mysteries of the cosmos. Students will experience moments of prayerful and contemplative practice and respond reflectively. While science and religion may have different starting points and use different methods to make meaning of our world, they are nevertheless complementary and address the same world realities.
