During this unit, students learn about personal and food hygiene, food spoilage and poisoning, food packaging and labelling, the design process and food production. Students will develop teamwork, project management and communication skills. They will begin with personal and food hygiene, food spoilage and poisoning, where they will plan and produce a selection of foods.
The next area of study is packaging and labelling, where students will design the prototype packaging complete with Australian-compliant labelling. Students consider how to present and market food and to make healthy food choices.
